I like building things and see them work so that would be the main point for pros 🙂 I really like what we do and there is nothing more satisfactory than seeing something you built working.

Of course you will have to do things that you do not like from time to time. That is the same in every job. In my case it would be things like writing project reports etc. but that really depends on personal preferences.

      Hey,
Sorry for the delay – been a bit behind on these… Good question btw!
The pros: engineers week is all about showcasing the pros of engineering – alot of the great things have already been discussed at length here. Some of them include; high job satisfaction, ability to travel the world, chance to work with cool technology, chance to work on amazing projects, good pay etc.

      Some cons:
      * its often hard. the training is intense – if you become an engineer, do not for a moment think that the leaving cert will be your toughest exam!
      * it can be a little lonely, for me at least. It can be hard to discuss your day with people – as pretty quick you’ll see that often people dont understand and have no real idea what your working on
      * dealing with failure and things not working is inevitable. this can be especially hard, especially if you invest alot of time/energy into something. fortunately its very rewarding when things work out
