      Hey Emily,

The best part of my day is the very end. Usually the office gets quiet and I get more time to focus on coding

I have to say the same as Sarah . I work from 10 to 6 or 11 to 7.
The rest of the office works 9 to 5. Those last two hours when the office is empty, all the emails have been send. I can turn music up loud and just get into a solid bit of coding.

      Hi Emily,
My days aren’t structured enough to be able to answer this question well. No two days are really alike (at least not consistently), so only answer I could really give is to say that drinking coffee (I drink alot of coffee) is my favourite time! Haha.
In term time (September-May), I am kept busy teaching students and supervising student projects. In the summer when these students have holidays, this really frees up my time and I can focus on my research almost 100% of the time. I love these days. Because we have better access to space (no students!) it’s a really good time to plan for building a robot. Coming in to work on the design, assembly and later testing of the robot is really exciting. I am usually a little nervous as it is really only at this point can you start to see how good/bad your design really is. On these days, I typically work long hours (12+ hours), and often work hours without a break – sometimes even forgetting to take lunch. On these days I go home exhausted, but fulfilled and excited, and looking forward to tomorrow when I can do it all again.

The best part of my day is the coffee in the morning and the situation when something finally works after a long while. Unfortunately the second kind of situation does not appear every day 😀
