I like the story of Larry Page and Sergey Brin. I’m not sure whether I would say they are my role models but their story is quite impressive.

I have a bunch of role models and a few favourite engineers. Firstly engineers… Close contendors: Leonardo Da Vinci, Howard Hughes (aviation pioneer), James Wyatt (insanely prolific architect in Industrial Revolution UK), Karl Benz, Jack Parsons (self-taught rocket scientist), Alan Turing, Rodney Brooks (roboticist), Richard Feynman (ok so technically a physicist but I’m still going to count it!). Overall favourite: Nicola Tesla – imo the best engineer to have ever lived on the planet. This guy was so unbelievably good. I dont think any engineer has ever left a mark on the world the way Tesla did. This guy (and all the other people I have mentioned) SHOULD be studied in your history class in secondary school!!

Ok onto role models… All my role models are people I know personally. My dad for sure. I have had a few coaches that I really look up to, my old athletics coach in particular. My grandfathers brother is a really senior academic in Trinity, and has been an incredible mentor to me over the years so him also. I’m sure there’s more..
